We're looking for a Developer for the hydrodynamic computational core of 3Di
- Degree level
Who are we looking for?
A developer for the hydrodynamic computational core of 3Di’, who has strong communicative skills and with a broad interest in the flow of water and coding. Together with the rest of the development team, you will further develop and expand the computational core in our own hydrodynamical application (3Di). The methods used in our computational core are challenging science and practice. We are constantly looking for ways to improve the methods used to get the best results. You are not scared of solving differential equations such as the Navier-Stokes equations and act as a sparring partner for the other developers. Our applications are used by companies, governments, and knowledge institutions. They support them in solving complex water and climate issues.
What does a day at the office look like for you?
After you get a cup of coffee, you and your colleagues go over the previous days’ work. After this, you discuss what the focus of that day will be. Adding water quality into the computational core, requires a little more attention, so you decide to look at the possible options together. Together you dive into the matter and decide on a direction. After this, you put on your headphones so you can focus. At 12:30 you have lunch in our work café with all your colleagues from IT and Consultancy. After lunch you take a stroll with a group through the center of Utrecht, so you have fresh energy for the afternoon. You use most of the afternoon to test the new features. You are already looking forward to the knowledge hour on climate scenarios the next day. Time to wrap up, but you get mixed up in a conversation, where it goes from work to politics and back again. A little later than planned, you go home.
What we ask of you
- Completed WO (Master’s) degree in physics, mathematics, or a study with a strong component on fluid dynamics
- A completed PhD (hydrodynamic subject) is a pre – Affinity with mathematics, physics and water
- Programming experience, for example knowledge of Fortran and Python
